Terms & Condtions
1. Age of admittanceFreshfields cares for children from birth to five years. We ask parents to bring a full change of clothes / uniform for each child on each visit. For the nursery children who still require formula milk bottle feeds, we require them to be made up at home and brought in daily (please label with your child's name). We provide a nappy service for all those children who still wear nappies, with a full range of wipes and lotions which will hopefully suit every child's individual needs.
On your first visit to the nursery you will be asked about your child's routine and specific changing requirements and these will be carried out by our staff. We would also lrecommend that pre-school children bring a toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush or comb.
Places for children up to the age of 2 years are limited, however, once a place is secured for your child it is guaranteed until the September in which they start at primary school.
2. Hours of Opening
Full Time children cannot be accepted before 8.00am. The latest they may be collected is 6.00pm prompt. Unfortunately a charge will be made if parents are more than ten minutes late.
Early Club is available for children from 7.30am until 8.00am. This must be arranged in advance so that staff know how many children to expect. Breakfast should be provided by the parents. There is an additional cost for this service.
Late Club is available for children from 6.00pm until 6.30pm. This must also be arranged in advance and incurs an additional fee.
3. Absences
It is important that we are notified if your child is absent. Please telephone the office or your class directly at the beginning of your session or prior to its commencement. Thank you.
4. Holidays
Freshfields is open throughout the year except for statutory Bank Holidays and public holidays and approximately seven days at Christmas. The exact dates of closure are published in the Freshfields calendar each year.
5. Sickness
Any child suffering from a doubtful rash, discharge from the eyes, nose or ears, or sickness and diarrhoea, should be kept at home until the symptoms have disappeared. Any child on prescribed medication must have been receiving medication for 24 hours before returning to nursery and must be well enough to attend. Should a child become ill at Freshfields, every effort will be made to contact the parents promptly. Please ensure that you indicate where you or a nominated relative or friend can be contacted during nursery hours. We reserve the right to have the child taken to hospital in an emergancy, or refuse admittence to a child that we deem unwell.
6. Uniform and Equipment
It has been Freshfields' policy for some time to ensure that all two to five year olds wear the uniform suggested. This consists of a sweatshirt, polo shirt and fleece, for both boys and girls - in the relevant nursery colours with the Freshfields logo. The uniform was designed with practicality in mind.
All clothing, bottle feeds and items brought to Freshfields should be clearly marked with your child's name. When the weather permits, children will be taken outside, it is therefore important that they are provided with suitable outdoor clothing such as hats, scarves, gloves, coats and wellies. Waterproof trousers are also a good idea.
All articles, including car seats, pushchairs and buggies are left at the owners risk. If they are to be left, please label them clearly with your childs name and leave them in a suitable place, not obstructing a corridor or fire exit. We have very limited space for such storage, so please do so if it is absolutely necessary. Thank you.
7. Valuables
Children are not to bring jewellery, money or other valuables into nursery. Sweets, chocolate, chewing gum and fizzy drinks are also prohibited.
8. Nut Free Zone Freshfields is 'Nut Free' as we are constantly registering children and the likelihood of a child arriving with a nut allergy is relatively high. We also have to consider staff allergies. Therefore we would appreciate your compliance with this policy.
9. Fees
Fees must be paid in full, monthly in advance on a Monday or the first day of attendance for your child during that month. Regrettably a charge of 10% of the total balance will be made for fees not paid on time and this will be added to your next invoice.
Unfortunately, no refund of fees can be made for absence due to sickness, holidays or for any other reason. Sessions cannot be swapped or changed and times of sessions must be adhered to; arriving late means the time is lost and cannot be made up at the end of the session. When Freshfields is closed over the Christmas period a charge of only half the current fees will be required. All fees are reviewed in January of each year.
10 Notice Period If a child is withdrawn from nursery school, a minimum of a full calendar months notice prior to departure is required. Written notice must be received by the office by the first day of the month. For example, should a child be leaving on 15th October, notice must be received by 1st September. Failure to adhere to the notice period will result in the parents being liable for a months fees in lueu of such notice.
The same notice period applies should you wish to decrease your childs attendance hours.
However, notice will not be required should you wish to increase your childs hours providing we have the availability. The increase in hours will be included on your next invoice.
11. Parking
Please park considerately to allow others to park too.
Children should not be left unattended in the car park, they must be supervised at all times. Should parents meet and wish to talk, please ensure that your child goes into one of the enclosed play areas until you are ready to leave. Thank you.
People parking at Freshfields do so entirely at their own risk. The nursery school accepts no responsibility for injury, damage or loss to persons, vehicles or property.
12. Complaints
If you are dissatisfied in any way with our procedures or performance on your child's behalf please inform the Principal, Managers, Supervisors or Class Charges at the Nursery, at your earliest convenience, or put your grievance in writing addressed to Mrs Julie Williams in the Office. The matter will be dealt with promptly and confidentially and will be acted upon and investigated . You will receive acknowledgement of your letter/complaint.
We are concerned for your child's happiness, so if after a reasonable period of time it is clear that your child is not settled, the Principal may advise that he/she should be taken out of the nursery school. He/she may be re-admitted at a later date.
The Principal reserves the right to remove a child from Freshfields for any reason or breach of regulations.
13. Registration Should a place be reserved for your child but they are not due to start within a month of registering, a retainer fee is payable. This is completely refundable against your final invoice so long as the place is taken within a month of the anticipated start date. However, should the place be postponed or cancelled, the retainer will not be refunded. This final point will only be revoked in exceptional circumstances.
